FAQ’s

• Q: How do we sign up to participate for 2023 Brazos River Cleanup?

Q: Where do we need to go on May 27 and when?

A: We will meet at the Glen Rose High School (look for the tent in the parking lot) at 8:00 a.m. for an orientation, team/river segment assignments, and light breakfast. The  Glen Rose High School address is:

Q: Where may we find additional information about the event?

Q: What do we need to bring?

A: Bring:

• Life Jacket
• Hat and/or sun visor 
• Refillable water bottle
• Sunglasses
• Sunscreen
• Sack lunch & preferred snack
• Emergency Contact information 
• Waterproof pouch for your valuables, cell phone, etc.
• Shoes that you don’t mind getting get wet (sneakers, waders) Note that  sneakers work better than water shoes in most areas
• Work gloves 
• Canoe, paddles, and/or kayak if you have one
• Optional: Towel, toiletries, change of clothes if you plan to attend the Friends of the Brazos Annual Meeting/Auction Saturday evening

Q: Do we need to bring our own canoe or kayak?

A: We expect to have canoes and kayaks for most, if not all participants. When you register, please indicate if you plan to bring your own. There will also be a segment of the clean-up for some participants to walk and pick up trash along the shoreline.

Q: How long will we be on the river?

• A: Depending on your team’s segment of the river and  the flow of the Brazos on May 27, plan on approximately on anywhere between 2 and 5 hours on the river.

Q: What is the benefit of the Brazos River Clean Up?

A: When you take action, you’ll help protect the delicate living river system and the wildlife that depend on it. Raccoons, ducks, turtles, and even marine wildlife like dolphins, sea turtles, and pelicans will have a safer habitat all the way down to the Gulf. Join the Friends of the Brazos River, Rio Brazos Chapter Texas Master Naturalist and Texas Conservation Alliance to protect and keep the Brazos River clean!
